Is Windows 7 about to die? Microsoft Ends Support for Windows 7

This is a sad article for me to write. While we have already upgraded our computers at our office and at home to Windows 10, Windows 7 is still one of my favorite operating systems.

Microsoft usually performs end of life on their Operating Systems in 2 phases. First is ending mainstream support, Mainstream support means that Microsoft will provide updates that include new features, performance and stability, as well as bug fixes.

The Second phase is extended support. In this phase, Microsoft will no longer add new features but they will still fix bugs and provide security updates to ensure the Operating System maintains its integrity and remains secure.

End of life means that the extended support period has ended. This means that Microsoft will no longer provide any updates to your Windows 7 computer leaving it open and at risk to any vulnerabilities found. This allows virus' and hackers to utilize these vulnerabilities as they will no longer be fixed by Microsoft.

If you haven't upgraded to Windows 10 yet, that time is now. Don't be a victim of malware and hackers by ensuring you are running an Operating System that is capable of receiving updates from Microsoft.
